After downloading the ZIP file, you need to extract it. After that you will have to modify the config.php and attributes.php (from the /secret/ directory) to suit your needs. You receive the required information for the database connection from your webhoster.
If the modification of your config.php is finished, you need to upload all files to your server. Start the install.php on your webserver by typing

In the folder you will find the "readme.txt" and some more files (including "install.php"). Well first we are going to find "config.php". Open in and then change the following:

Write the username for your MySQL database in the quotation marks (you get the username from your webhoster).

$dbpassword = 'password';

Write the password for your MySQL database in the quotation marks (you get the password from your webhoster, too).

$dbname = 'database';

Write the name of your MySQL database in the quotation marks (again, you get the name from your webhoster).

$dbtablename = 'galaxy';

Write the name of the galaxy table (all the data like planets and coordinates) in the quotation marks. It is recommended to use a significant name like u15_galaxy to know what the tables are used for if you look in your database.

$utablename = 'user';

Write the name of the user table (the users of the tool) in the quotation marks. It is recommended to use a significant name like u15_user to know what the tables are used for if you look in your database.

$playertable = 'players';

Write the name of the players table in the quotation marks. It is recommended to use a significant name like u15_players to know what the tables are used for if you look in your database.

Now if you have edited "config.php" it is time to edit some stuff to give galaxy tool another look. Now in the same folder ("secret") there is a file called "attributes.php". Open in and we are going to change some things:

$owner = 'yourname';

Write your alliance or OGame nickname in the quotation marks. It is shown at the login screen to show which tool you are using if you play in different univereses.

$maxshouts = 15;

This is the number of shouts shown in the shoutbox on the overview page. All shouts which are not shown are deleted!

$email_to = 'admin@yourdomain.com';

Enter your admin Email address where you want to receive emails about newly registered users.

$email_from = 'email@provider.xxx';

Here you can add an email address which should be shown in the FROM field of registration emails. Put the address between quotation marks.
If someone registers himself at the galaxytool, an email is sent to this address showing that someone registered and needs to be activated.
If you want to disable registering, you have to delete the register.php file.

$default_language = 'english';

Write the default language for the tool in the quotation marks.
You can choose between: german, english, spanish, dutch, balkan, french, portugues, turkish, danish, italian,polish, danish, brazil, russian, swedish or greek.

$global_universe = 15;

This is your Universe number.

If you enable several buttons at the [[FoxGame]] extension you may experience problems during upload of data.
( like for example the extra buttons for the [[FoxGame]] database features )

Disable any buttons at the galaxyview, statistics, alliance overview and reports at your foxgame settings. To do this, go to foxgame settings and disable all radiobuttons at the "Databases" tab.

There is NO problem with the reduced galaxyview if you update the galaxytool only with the toolbar and not manually at the textarea of the galaxytool.

Toolbar Frequently Asked Questions

=Toolbar Remains in "Status: Galaxy x:xxx:x Found"=
When showing a galaxy, the toolbar shows "Status: Galaxy x:xxx:x Found" and does not progress to "Status: Galaxview x:xxx:x Updated". The galaxyview is not updated into the galaxy database.

==Possible Cause==
The Foxgame plugin in Firefox is also installed and its settings disables the Galaxytoolbar updates.

==Possible Solution (Example Foxgame 1.4.8)==
* Go to Firefox 2 menu [Tools].[Add-ons]
* In the section "Extensions", select Foxgame plugin.
* Press the button [Options]
* In tab "General I", un-tick box "Reduced Galaxy view"
* In tab "Databases", un-tick all boxes (starting with "Add buttons..")

Browser Extension

The Toolbar works only with Mozilla Firefox. The installation script for Mozilla did not work yet.
There are no toolbars for Opera and IE at the moment!

You can activate and deactivate the toolbar to avoid mistakes if you are playing in more tha 1 universe. At startup the toolbar is always deactivated and must be activated before it's first usage. If the toolbar is activated it works for all instances or tabs of the browser!

== IMPORTANT NOTICE: ==

The New Toolbar version (2.0beta when update goes live) will only work with ogame version 77x or later, should your locale still use the old 76x version, downloading the new toolbar will disable your ability to use the plugin until your locale has updated!

At the very first start, the toolbar has no entries. You have to click the "options" button first.

You can fill in up to five universes!

You have to fill in the server of your universe in the first column. You can get the server address by rightclicking on the "overview" link at OGame and choose "copy link location". You will get an address like this:

http://uni15.ogame.de/game/overview.php?session=yoursession (german Uni 15).

Now you remove the "http://" and everything from "/game" to the end. That's your server address: uni15.ogame.de you have to fill in the first column.
In the second column follows the path to the galaxyplugin.php of the corresponding galaxytool. Normally the file galaxyplugin.php is stored at the secret folder of your galaxytool. That file receives the information from the toolbar and its URL must be inserted at the URL textfield. You need to fill in the complete path, e.g. http://www.yourdomain.com/pathtogalaxytool/secret/galaxyplugin.php
The admin can delete the file if he does not want the usage of the toolbar. He can also rename the file, so nobody knows the URL except authorized users. So if you are not sure ask your admin whats the URL to the required file.

In the third and fourth column you enter the username and password of the corresponding galaxytools.

Fill in up to 5 universes and tools and save the data by clicking "ok". Now your toolbar is ready and you can activate it by clicking the "activate" button. From now on the toolbar notices when you view a status page or galaxy view and updates the data at the corresponding galaxytool. If you watch a page with reports you can click the "reports" button to send all reports to the corresponding galaxytool.

If the data was sent successfully the status of the toolbar changes to show what you have updated.

If someone registers himself at the galaxytool, an email is sent to this address showing that someone registered and needs to be activated.
If you want to disable registering, you have to delete the register.php file.

You can choose between: german, english, spanish, dutch, balkan, french, portugues, turkish, danish, italian and polish.

This iso-code should work for most languages. If not - adjust it for your needs.

If you like, you can add new links (e.g. to your alliance board) by adding a new entry.

After several requests to add links to ostat these links are integrated now.
You need to modify the ostat-server ("de" for german, or "org" for english universes).
You should always fill in the universe value, to help other users to know for which universe the tool is used. The universe is shown above the main menu if you have filled in a value.

This is an example for the english universe 25.

== After installation ==

After the installation you have to delete the install.php and the update.php!

The first login:
Loginname: admin
Password: galatool

You should change the password for the admin account after you log in the first time!

This tool is absolutely rule-consistent because it never uses resources or other things from ogame directly! We asked people from the ogame staff directly if the tool and the toolbar are 100% rule-consistent - and they ARE!

The player / alliance has to update the information manually.

But this can be done very comfortable with copy and paste of the required information (galaxy view or espionage report). Then pasting the data in a text area of that tool and thats all. The tool will do the rest and analyze the data and its content to make it searchable.

After downloading the file, you need to extract it. After that you will have to modify the config.php to suit your needs. You receive the required information for the database connection from your webhoster.
If the modification of your config.php is finished, you need to upload all files to your server. Start the install.php on your webserver by typing

http://address.of.your.webspace/path/to/galaxytool/install.php in your browser and see what happens (of course with your specific address and path).

If there are any problems during the installation, you have to look what is wrong with your config.php!
After the installation you should delete the install.php and the update.php.
The attributes.php allows to modify the Galaxytool, but you don't need to change anything there.

Please note that special characters like ' are not allowed except for those already present there!
